Choosing a Masonic Home

Your golden years must be filled with enjoyment, relaxation, and, of course, spent in a good home to build new memories. When you finally have to find a masonic home, there are definitely things you should be looking for.

Location

First of all, think of the things you want to be doing the most at this stage of your life. Boating? Fishing? Also, do you want to be warm throughout the year? Would you still want to experience four seasons? Remember to consider where your family is located. You may be okay being away from them now, but who knows after a decade?

Zoning

When selecting a Wichita assisted living couples home, it's good to look into zoning. A good option is to go for a community where there are apartment complexes as well. This way, you can still stay in the same neighborhood even if you decide to have a smaller home in the future. Of course, the idea is that those high-density apartments will probably have more stores as well as other services nearby. And you don't have to leave the community where you have found good friends. Going through separation anxiety is not something you'll look forward to at this point in your life.

Transportation

Among the things you have to to consider when picking a masonic Wichita Alzheimers home is transportation - think ten to twenty years from now. Yes, you can drive right now, what about when you're 80? Even if you can still drive, you probably won't be hitting the road as much anymore. In such a case, make sure there's public transportation that will be convenient for you. Also, choose a neighborhood where roads are well-maintained so when you actually drive, it's going to be easy.

Bathroom

You may or may not have figured it out, but the most accident-prone room in the house is the bathroom. Make sure you have a bathroom where there is adequate space for you to move around. There are bathrooms that already provide safety features or appliances, such as grab bars, but in most cases, you will have to set them up yourself if you think you want to use them. Just in case you plan to add some new ones, be sure the space is enough to accommodate them.

Size and Maintenance

In terms of size, anything too big can cause problems later on. To accommodate guests, it would be nice to have one or two additional bedrooms, but more than that and you could have trouble with utilities, furniture and even basic cleaning. Find communities in which where they will take care of exterior maintenance for you. Taking care of your yard may be something you enjoy now, but time may come when it would begin to feel like chore. It's wonderful to have that kind of option.
